Theme: Temptation- a fact not a sin

Lent begins properly with the first Sunday of Lent’s description of the Temptations of Christ in the wilderness after his baptism. The story is a self conscious revisiting of the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Then, Adam and Eve did not resist Satan’s deception and lost paradise for all of us, This time round, Christ successfully resists the temptations of the devil, setting the stage for the salvation which is to come at Easter, and, by our baptism, the prospect of Paradise regained.
